A new accolade for our 2012 Russian River Pinot Noir! At the California State Fair Wine Competition, one of the most prestigious wine judgings in the country, this wine was awarded 94 Points and a Gold Medal! We appreciate this recognition of the quality and value we put into our Masterpiece wines.
Wine & Spirits Magazine had some very nice things to say about our 2012 Masterpiece Zinfandel, giving it a Best Buy and scoring it 92 Points. Here's their comments:
"This bright, energetic wine is the result of an abundant year at the Windsor Oak vineyard in Chalk Hill, grown at two different blocks, one cooler, on valley floor soil, and one higher elevation, on volcanic soil. The tone of the fruit falls somewhere between strawberry and sweet red cherry tomato, with a rosy lift in the aroma and some fresh, herbal details adding complexity. This is the kind of flavorful yet acid driven table wine that’s all too rare in California; a multipurpose red that could match anything from eggplant parmesan to grilled salmon."
The points keep rolling in...we received a wonderful review and another 94 point score for our 2012 Masterpiece Russian River Pinot Noir from Rich Cook of Wine Reviews Online, saying:
"An estate grown, Russian River Pinot Noir for sixteen dollars? Indeed, and a very fine one at that. Nice tart cherry fruit, nicely integrated oak spice, mild dry earth, rhubarb and strawberry are delivered with racy, food-friendly acidity and a very long finish make this a wine to seek out. At this price I'd get a case or two to make lots of people happy."
Nabbing this score, along with our 94 points and Platinum Award at the San Diego International Wine Competition, makes us feel pretty good! We may have to celebrate...with a glass of Masterpiece Pinot Noir!
The San Diego International Wine Competition is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the country. So we were thrilled to hear our 2012 Masterpiece Russian River Pinot Noir took 94 points and a Platinum Award at the 2014 judging! Look for this award winning wine at retailers near you-and give us a call if you can't find it!
The Veritage Wine Competition in Miami Florida is unique in that it's judged entirely by working sommeliers, whose judging criteria is "would I put this wine on my wine list?" So we were very pleased when this who's who of the Miami wine world announced that our 2012 Masterpiece Pinot Noir was awarded Best of Class! Not bad for a Russian River Pinot Noir going up against wines two and three times the price!
